This amazing little article reveals a couple things. First, the "powers that be" in Broward County would be fine with the rights protected by the 2nd and 4th Amendments being attacked, as long as the radiation level was low.

Second, as the last line of the article indicates, this "ban" is all show... The TSA is the final decider. So this move by Broward County is merely rhetorical, kind of like having a cop watch and vocally protest as you're mugged, but not do his job, which is to stop the molestation.

This is an excellent example of how pop media sources often miss the forest for the trees. As you read this piece, you will probably note the acknowledgment of absurdity the authors offer. Clearly, based on the way the story is structured and the interviews conducted, the authors don't much care for this silly edict. But what is the basis of their dislike? It is the fact that they have differing opinions, and think it counter-productive and silly for EU gubment agents to claim something that runs so counter to what they, the authors, and many others know: drinking water DOES hydrate the body.

What is MISSED here is the larger question, which can be set up thus;

It might pass the Senate, but the President will try to veto it. If they override his veto, then he will simply not enforce the law if states don't provide reciprocity. But still, this is a good sign of how many people view gun rights as universal. What it also shows, however, is a profound LACK OF UNSERSTANDING of the US CONSTITUTION.

First, the Second Amendment is clear, and is supposed to STOP states from interfering with HOW one carries his weapon of self-defense. No state is supposed to have "licenses" to "let you" carry a gun, concealed or otherwise.

Prior to joining the S.Court, Justice Kagan not only helped craft the medical fascism law, she helped work on its defense against lawsuits. Ya think she'll step down? What would Dems say if it were some Repub appointee and it had to do with Gitmo? ( I write this knowing that Scalia -- who had a son in the Army in Iraq at the time) actually SAID he would be "damned if he gave those guys [in Gitmo] habeas hearings" -- So, I don't think these black-robed oligarchs really care about the image, they care about their agenda. Don't expect her to step down for this case.

It's doubtful that the black-robed oligarchs will rule on manifest things like the invasion of our 4th amendment rights to NOT have our medical records seen by the government (the courts routinely let them invade our financial records through the IRS), and they probably won't bother with things like, oh, the manipulation of the Interstate Commerce clause. But there's a chance that the court might, just might, rule that it's unconstitutional to mandate that people buy a product called health insurance.

Good for him. He is correct in his suit, and in his argument that he should have a jury decide, not a panel of judges.

Guess what? It's started. In TN, the V.I.P.E.R program, which stands for Very Invasive Personal Exploration Reconnassance (a euphemism for invading your body and property) has begun doing random inspections of vehicles that pull into weigh stations and other commercial transport areas. One can never put a lot of faith in a bunch of government employees to rul on whether the GOVERNMENT is going too far, has overstepped its written bounds (which haven't been much like bounds, have they?)... But this challenge to the constitutionality of the individual mandate is at least entertaining.

The justices are only interested in whether is is Constitutional for Congress to force individual citizens to have to buy health insurance. Sadly, they never challenge the spurious notion that the Congress can FORCE insurance companies to cover certain people at rates that are untenable. They accept that nonsense and no pop media pundit will bother expanding the analysis to include it.

Just remember, don't ever question why US military forces might be fighting unconstitutionnally, and don't mention anything like blow-back, 'cause that might prevent you from doing all sorts of things in the "Land of the Free". ;)
