The Latest on Immigration and Our Illegal Government

The US Senate is poised to pass "immigration reform" that would dramatically increase the power of the federal government, and further attenuate the rights of United States citizens.

As reported by the Associated Press:

"Employers who do not use a new computerized system could be fined $200 to $600. The system would include information from the Social Security Administration, the Internal Revenue Service and Homeland Security Department.

"There would be $20,000 fines for hiring illegal immigrants once the new screening system is in place, double the current maximum. Repeated violators could be sentenced to prison terms of up to three years.

For Non-Subscribers -- An Update on REAL ID and Executive Powers During Pandemics

Number Six recently issued a Mass Mailer to all Conspirators, letting them know the latest on two important matters of concern.

The following is the text of the letter, providing up to date information from the NH capital:

Number 85 reports today that, following the Senate vote to "study" HB 1582 (which would rebuff the federal government over the anti-constitutional requirements of REAL ID), supporters of the bill in the House attached the original provisions of HB 1582 to their version of SB399. SB 399, mentioned earlier here at the Conspiracy, would give the executive branch, and the Commisssioner of Health and Human Services, power to commandeer medicines, prevent gatherings of private citizens, and biologically cleanse private buildings during times of "emergency".

Immigration - The US Border Agency Tips off Mexico and 'Illegal' Immigrants about Minuteman Patrols

As reported elsewhere, the US Border Patrol has tipped off Mexican authorities about the locations of US Minuteman patrols. This not only helps the "illegal" (we use quotes because it is questionable whether the federal laws on immigraion are constitutional) immigrants avoid capture, it puts the minutemen at risk as targets.

NH Senate Guts Protection Against Federal REAL ID Act

Today, on "Against the Grain", Seth Cohn of the NH Liberty Alliance joined Gard to discuss the vote on Thursday evening in the NH Senate.

14 Republicans voted to amend HB 1582, which would have rebuffed the federal government over the anti-constitutional REAL ID Act, insuring that NH retain authority to issue its own driver's licenses as its government sees fit.

The bill is not dead. As amended, it will have to go back to a conference committee with the House. Unfortunately, Senate President Gatsas, who opposes HB 1582, gets to select the members of the Senate delegation for the committee.

The Latest on Immigration, the National Anthem, and a Bird Flu UPDATE --

As reported by the Drudge Report, George Bush's expressed opinion that the "Star Spangled Banner" be sung in English does not seem to jibe with his own background on the campaign trail.

Kevin Phillips, author of "American Dynasty", first noted it in his book, and Drudge has broadened the exposure.

Here is the link:

The President may be slow to recognize his own hypocrasy, but at least he doesn't have bird flu.

Here, also, is the latest on the US government's plan to shield us from the flu.

It's a good thing ABC News is watching this pote

More, on REAL ID, with Jim Harper, of the Cato Institute

Jim Harper, Director of Information Policy Studies at the Cato Institute, www.cato.org, made the effort to visit NH during the hearing in the NH Senate on HB 1582. He then appeared on "Against the Grain", on WTNK and WUVR, with Gardner Goldsmith.

Great thanks to Mr. Harper for his efforts.

HEADLINE - NH Governor Admits State Computers were HACKED -- AND The Feds FINE a NH Man for Giving Kids a Chance to Run Business

Yes! After checking their computers for the first time in SIX MONTHS, the Lynch Administration realized that they had been hacked, and the credit card numbers of NH citizens may have been stolen!

Efficient. Trustworthy. Addressable. Government.

In addition, Section B of the Union Leader reported on February 16 that Alex Ray, the owner of the Common Man Inns, was fined nearly $4,000 for starting a summer program for teens who wanted to learn how to run businesses. He ran afoul of federal 'child labor laws" that "protected" these kids from their own choices, which were also monitored by their folks.

Soiling the Union Jack - The UK Parliament Passes a Ban on Smoking in 'Public' Places pt 2 of 2

As described in the written post here at the Conspiracy, the British Parliament recently passed a ban on smoking in all "public" places. It is interesting to note that these "public" places do not include government prisons or the Houses of Parliament themselves; nothing like hypocrasy tied together with fascism. Just a day after the vote, Henry DeZoete, Health Research Officer for Reform Britain (www.reform.co.uk) joined Gardner Goldsmith on "Against the Grain", to discuss the government move, and the implications for the UK and the US. This is part two of two.

The UK Is Set to Ban Smoking in 'Public' Places

As reported by Reuters, the British Parliament has passed a law that would ban smoking in all "public" places in the nation. This follows on the heels of a smiliar ban in Ireland that became law in 2004.

There are many issues involved here. The first is the fact that with this ban (which still has to go before the House of Lords, but is likely to pass there as well), the principle of private property has been destroyed. "Public" property is properly understood as that which is owned by the state, and which utilizes tax money to operate. Private property is that which is owned privately, which has required one's personal effort to acquire. Stipulating that bars, restaurants and clubs which are privately owned MUST operate under certain conditions runs contrary to the principle that government is created to protect our private property, and we are free to engage in free commerce using this property, as long as the result of the commerce is not to forceably harm the life or property of another.

Issues to Watch for 2-3-06 Part One

This week saw George Bush give his State of the Union speech. In it he mispronounced "nuclear" at least four times, and said that by 2030, nearly 60% of the federal budget will be eaten up by "entitlements" such as Social Security and Medicare. Calling for fiscal responsibility, he said that something has to be done about this problem.

Does anyone recall the $800+ billion (in just ten years) liability he pushed through Congress two years ago, otherwise known as the Prescription Drug Benefit, or "Medicare part D"? Does anyone recall how his Congressmen and Senators voted on this patently unconstitutional program? Interesting questions to consider as one listens to the President.
