Tales from the Conspiracy

Haiti

Okay we have all seen the news reports describing how dreadful the conditions are in the aftermath of the earthquake in Haiti.

Its incidents such as the earthquake in Haiti that many people will use as an argument for government & for big government, of course there are free market solutions to deal with humanitarian relief in incidents such as Haiti, we know for example that many are prepared to dip in their pocket & give vulnerary donations towards humanitarian aid.

Surrey County Council Are Dipshits!!!!!!!!!!!

The irony does not elude me

First their bozo contractors cut thorough me phone line & then they keep delaying it getting fixed!

GRRRRR

THE HIGHWAYS DEPARTMENT AT SURREY COUNTY COUNCIL ARE UTTER DIPSHITS!!

Well I bought a mobile doggle so I'm kind of now back online though getting charged at the GB but heck I need to get back blogging & take out my frustrations in constructive manner because otherwise I'm going to take a trip to Kingston with an axe to do some damage of my own to the County Council offices.

Last.fm Liberty Conspiracy Update

The leader of the Libertarians group on Last.fm has retired, leaving me with the position. In light of these events, I have since added a number of podcasts to the 'Connected Artists' section, including Liberty Conspiracy, FTL, and Wes Bertrand. I appreciate your feedback on adding any pro-liberty/libertarian artists or shows to the list of connected artists. Also, with this position, it may be fortuitous to relay Liberty Conspiracy song versus song results to grow interest in the show on the Last.fm site. I encourage anyone to join last.fm and become a member of the group, if you're interested!

Start Global Warming, Please

It hasn't gotten above the freezing mark for a week here in East Tennessee.  Our koi pond is a solid chunk of ice.  We had to get heated water bowls for all of our outside dogs (we have a bunch of resuces in different pens at our barn at the bottom of the hill).  The cattle tank from which we draw the dogs' water is an ice cube and now has several small holes from the expansion of the ice.  Last night it snowed, so I had to walk up the hill to our house because our vehicle started to slide off the driveway.  Walking up that hill in the snow is no small feat, either--about 1/3 of a mile at a significant incline.  I was going to take my 4-wheeler back down to get my wife, but it wouldn't start because it had been sitting outside and was too cold.  Needle

Swiss Fine Motorist nearly 300K+ for speeding

This is insane.  People are actually defending the exorbitant fine imposed on a swiss motorist for speeding.  This just goes to show that speeding tickets are not about safety, they are about "revenue generation."

Check out the comments on this story.

I always thought of Switzerland, with it system of Canton and history of banking secrecy, as a place of relative freedom.  With the recent news of a ban on the building of minarets and now this story on speeding, the sheen of Switzerland has faded.

Gard, I have a minor disagreement with you on your immigration analysis.

Gard,

Great "immigration" podcast.  I agree with you that immigration laws are unconstitutional.  I also appreciate that you present an argument to conservatives and constitutionalists on their own terms.  Too many of our fellow ancaps argue with cons/const's from only moral principle.  Now for my disagreement.  You mentioned Article 1, Section 9.  You mentioned that the article had to do with slavery.  That article mentions persons with a capital P.  Slaves were not considered persons.  But this whole line of argument gets into Spooner's thesis in "The Unconstitutionality of Slavery".

Cambodian Gov't Hinders Protection of Giant Catfish

My four year old found a video about the Cambodian Giant Catfish.

The video provides a brief overview of the activities and exploits of a man interested in keeping the Giant Catfish from going exstinct.  Let us presume for a moment that the man has, as his funding source, only acquired voluntary donations.  I doubt this highly, and the video does state that the man is now working with the Cambodian gov't.

Tattooed for FREEEEEDOM!

Hey all,

Just thought I'd post a couple of pics of my latest tattoo - a piece of script based on the Wiccan Rede (and mantra for freedom), 'An' it harm none, do what ye will'. I'm not a wiccan, but I feel this is a wonderful absolute to live life by and pretty much the fundamental building block of anarchistic living:

Inked on New Years Eve by Snoopy, Glengormley, Northern Ireland.

Sorry the pics are a little unclear!

Walter Williams is no friend of liberty

I just got done listening to Walter Williams substituting for Rush Limbaugh.  I know a lot of libertarians try to count him as one of our own, but they are dead wrong.  As usual, he was prattling on about the role of government in a free society and how it's wrong to initiate force.  In addition, he did his normal routine about how this law and that law are unconstitutional.  Nowhere in his criticism today, or ever before, have I ever heard him take on the warfare state.  He even had a column some time back defending Abu Ghariab (I'll get the link later).  To top it off, he had statist Sen.

Looking for Gards' contact

Couldn't find it anywhere through the site, or while listening.  Gard when you see this please send me an email at jamesbutabi@yahoo.com.

Is there a list of reasons why Americans should fear the US Government?

Anybody know of website or youtube video that just rattles off examples of why the government should be feared more than a disturbed kid trying to blow up his underwear. I was arguing with a so called liberal who now expresses fear towards terrorism and is rattling the saber for US involvement in Yemen and anywhere that Obama wishes to go. She was shocked that I fear the government more than terrorism and listed the DEA shutting down medical marijuana clinics in California along with Ruby Ridge, Waco, Kent State but there has to be a complete list out there. Any ideas?

China Executes British Man for Drugs: Victim Likely Had Mental Disease

I spoke with Ziggy in the U.K. this morning to get his insights on the events of the world.  He brought some terrible news to my attention that deserves wider scrutiny.

British drug smuggler executed in China's Xinjiang

Dude was likely bi-polar, and executed for, from what I can tell, the non-violent non-crime of transporting an intoxicating substance through a totalitarian police state.  It was noted that the man may have suffered from untreated bi-polar disorder.

Single Payer is a misnomer

We shouldn't let progressives get away with using the term Single Payer Health Care.  Under such a program, everyone who pays taxes pays.  The term Single Payer shows how progressives view the government.  For them, government is a bottomless pit of money that comes from the ether.

My (failed) attempt to reach out to progressives.

My recent foray into the thomhartmann.com message board has lead me to conclude that progressives are hopeless.  A few months ago, I registered for thomhartmann.com in the hopes of bring progressives over to the libertarian dark side.  As an aside, I don't care much for Thom Hartmann.  He interviewed FTL's Ian during the Ron Paul campaign.  Instead of asking him questions about the campaign and why Ian was supporting Paul, he deviated into a discussion of anarchism.  I thought it was very dishonest.  He also did a similar thing with Andrew Napolitano.
