Freedom v False Security, Economics v Paternalism, Liberty v Regulation -- The Latest US Senate News on Immigration

The US Senate is poised to pass "immigration reform" that would dramatically increase the power of the federal government, and further attenuate the rights of United States citizens.

As reported by the Associated Press:

"Employers who do not use a new computerized system could be fined $200 to $600. The system would include information from the Social Security Administration, the Internal Revenue Service and Homeland Security Department.

"There would be $20,000 fines for hiring illegal immigrants once the new screening system is in place, double the current maximum. Repeated violators could be sentenced to prison terms of up to three years.

The NBC-AL Gore Nexus -- Idiocy and Idolitry in Action; Buy Your Ticket Today!

On May 24, former Vice President Al "Lock Box" Gore, appeared with the PERKY Katie Couric (see future updates to the Conspiracy for our new section devoted to our worship of Katie and her great journalistic skills).

Apart from being intellecutally pornographic, the interview was also very revealing, in that it exposed the fallacies underlying so many of the leftist agenda of greater state control.

The Government Wastes Your Neighbor's Money to Tell US Gas Price Gouging Didn't Occur

As "Against The Grain" opens, it takes on the FTC, and state governors kneeling before the altar of the federal government for handouts -- money that was ALREADY taken from the people of NH.

Se Habla English as 'Official' language in the US?

An appearance by Alberto (VO5) Gonzales on ABC's "This Week" with George Stephanopoulis offered many revealing moments. We will explore Alberto's stance on privacy rights tomorrow. Today, we concentrate on a dilemma posed by recent Senate action to make English the "official" language of the US.

This raises a few important questions, including the issue of the limits of federalism, voting rules, and the role of the federal government in setting standards for the franchize.

ALberto seems unconcerned about possible loss of state automony. Not a change of pace for him.

NH Rep. Charles 'Three Terms' Bass Votes Against Allowing Drilling Offshore

Second District Congressman Charlie "Three Terms" Bass has voted against allowing oil and natural gas drilling off the coast of any states. This coming at a time when Americans are sounding off about gas prices, and Charlie has called for investigations into "high earnings" by the evil oil companies. The US government has forbidden new drilling off tha coast since 1981.

Hi, Charlie!

Suggested by Ahmed Niazi, a Fascinating Look at Immigration in the UK

As mentioned on "Against the Grain", Amhed Niazi, or "Naz" as he is popularly known by the audience, often offers keen insights into the status of freedom in the UK and US.

He recently recommended a book entitled: "Bloody Foreigners", by Robert Winder. It is a good look at immigration in Great Britain, and how it has changed the country for the better.

Floods and the Federal Government -- Remembering David Crockett

At this time when so many look to government as the source of charity and goodness, of community spirit and neighborliness, one's mind returns to the time of Rep. David Crockett, and what he once learned from a constituent.

We miss people like them.

The New England Floods - Remember Principle -- Don't Look to Government for Help

During a time of natural disaster, citizens of NH must hold to their principles, and remember to avoid the temptation of looking to government for help. This segment from 'Against the Grain' reiterates this important point.

Natural Disasters and Government

As it did last fall, rain drenches New Hampshire to the point of flooding, and, as they did last fall, NH politicians and federal "officials" promise to save the day with government assistance (ie money that has already been taken from us without our direct approval, or money that will be borrowed with the promise of repayment with our tax Dollars).

We rarely question this paradigm. When Representative Dan Eaton proposed spending $4 million of other peoples' money to buy outright the homes of flood victims in Alstead, his idea was met with resounding approval.

It shows we care, they said. It shows the best of NH government in action.

For Non-Subscribers -- An Update on REAL ID and Executive Powers During Pandemics

Number Six recently issued a Mass Mailer to all Conspirators, letting them know the latest on two important matters of concern.

The following is the text of the letter, providing up to date information from the NH capital:

Number 85 reports today that, following the Senate vote to "study" HB 1582 (which would rebuff the federal government over the anti-constitutional requirements of REAL ID), supporters of the bill in the House attached the original provisions of HB 1582 to their version of SB399. SB 399, mentioned earlier here at the Conspiracy, would give the executive branch, and the Commisssioner of Health and Human Services, power to commandeer medicines, prevent gatherings of private citizens, and biologically cleanse private buildings during times of "emergency".

Immigration Part Two

More on the issue, from "Against the Grain"

Immigration - The US Border Agency Tips off Mexico and 'Illegal' Immigrants about Minuteman Patrols

As reported elsewhere, the US Border Patrol has tipped off Mexican authorities about the locations of US Minuteman patrols. This not only helps the "illegal" (we use quotes because it is questionable whether the federal laws on immigraion are constitutional) immigrants avoid capture, it puts the minutemen at risk as targets.
