On Friday, July 14 (Bastille Day -- Way to make it pay off, France) Ian Bernard, of Free Talk Live (www.freetalklive.com) joined Gardner Goldsmith to discuss many national and state issues. On the agenda was the incredibly brilliant idea of imposing federal "wellness" standards on local school districts.

Wonderful!

The Latest on the Big Dig Death, and the NH Phone Jamming Scheme -- With Thanks to Andru Volinski -- What a Guy.

Now that more than 200 bolts were found to be "in danger", and following the death of a mother of three, it migh tbe productive to question the paradigm of federal funding of road projects, or government funding altogether.

Graft, corruption, failed and shoddy work. A deadly combination.

Stated, again, with all due respect to the family of the deceased.

More, on 'Detainees', with James Bovard, www.jimbovard.com and 'Attention Deficit Democracy'

Not everyone buys the claims of the Bush Adminstration that the so-called "war" gives the Executive Branch special powers.

One such man is James Bovard.

This is part two of two, with James.

Big Dig Death -- Are You Glad Your Money Was Used For It...

One woman is dead, and her husband in the hospital, after a 3 tonne section of the Ted Williams Tunnel fell on their car the night of July 10, 2006.

Here is the rest of the story...

This was something that should not have happened, both in the specific case of this death, and in the general issue of the Big Dig funding itself. Two years ago, the Foundation for Economic Education published a piece by Gardner Goldsmith on the Big Dig. The link is here:

Read the Details about the Internet, thanks to Senator Ted Stevens - 'R', Alaska -

Thanks to Number Two, the Conspiracy would like to offer for your perusal the comments of Alaska Senator Ted Stevens, member of the Senate Commerce Committee (better known at the "Anti-commerce Committee"). As a member of the committee, Senator Stevens is charged (though not constitutionally) with regulating the nation to death.

This he does with aplomb and striking enthusiasm, despite his glaring lack of knowledge about the things he wants to regulate. Case in point, the internet. Ted and his pals in DC are looking into the interest of businesses to provide upgraded levels of internet service for added fees. Since Ted does not seem to believe that people can be free to use their money to get something better, because it might make others feel inadequate, he is against letting businesses offer things like faster service, video news, and music options for a bit more. Equality means the equal sharing of misery, not equal treatment under the law.

Do Environmentalists Want to Ban Fireworks... And, Little-known Facts About the NJ Budget Crisis

If one were to listen only to the pop media, he would get the impression that NJ governor John Corzine was standing firm against an income tax, as if he were opposed to placing such a burden on his people in order to make up for a $4.5 billion budget deficit. But what the pop media "reporters" don't report is that Corzine is simply in favor of a different way to take money from the citizens. He wants a sales tax.

Regardless of the brand of poison, the tax ideas are pernicious. Majority sanctioned theft is still theft. But, of course, don't expect the pop media to make this observation. Don't expect them to note one of the major reasons New Jersey is in this financial mess, which is due to the fact that NJ, like New Hampshire and more than thirty other states, was targeted by educrats for a lawsuit that would centralize education funding decisions in the state. This has brought about an explosion in education costs for NJ, NH, Texas, New York, VT, CT, and all the other states where the education establishment and leftist legal community have joined forces to destroy local control of schools.

More, on Charlie 'Three Terms' Bass, and His Mauling of US History

Intellectual honesty is a rare commodity in the political world.

NH Second District Congressman, Charlie 'Three Terms' Bass, Advertises Ignorance, and a New Definition of 'Independence'

Over the Independence Day weekend, radio stations around New Hampshire aired thirty second commercials for Charles bass, the man who promised he would only run for three terms, and who is now running for his sixth. In the spots, "Charlie" is heard defining "independence", which, in an example of post-modernist, deconstructionist, leftist linguistics he defines to fit his agenda.

Like many people who heard his commercials, Gardner Goldsmith recognized the fallacies in them, and the verbal sleight of hand used by Charlie and his PR staff.

This is part one of two.
