The Political Class Bloviates on Gas Prices Part 1 of 3

Savor the pleasure of knowing that hypocrites like Dennis Hastert and Bill Frist deride oil companie and their executives for their supposedly unconscionable profits.

This coming from guys who get automatic pay raises UNLESS they vote against them, pay raises that are taken from us against our will.

There is much to discuss on the supposed "gouging" by oil companies. This audio file begins the discussion.

The US and China, with Wendy Wang - Bush Gives the Communist Government the OK to Take Over Taiwan

Wendy, of Talk Radio News, joined Gardner Goldsmith to discuss the immediate and long-term ramifications of George's Bush's meeting with Communist "President" Hu Jintao. During the meeting at the White House, at which Hu received a twenty-one gun salute and champaign, a Chinese heckler was removed from the area. She spoke in English and Mandarin, telling Hu his days as dictator were numbered, and calling for more freedom in China.

On "Against the Grain", Gard welcomed Wendy Wang, of Talk Radio News. Wendy moved to the US when she was seven, her parents being lucky enough to come here in the 1980's. Wendy and Gard discussed the future of China-US relations, and the future of Taiwan.

Government Trains and Gas - Don't be Fooled by the Politicians

Comments on the "Downeaster" train in Maine, NH, and Mass. The politicians will try any ploy they can to pilfer your money, and that of your neighbor. This segment of "Against the Grain" exposes the fallacies underlying government train systems, and looks at the misapprehensions that prompt even respected economists like Milton Friedman to view higher gas prises as a causitive factor behind inflation.

Gardner Goldsmith explains why this is not the case.

Federal Bureaucrats Announce Plans to Destroy Private Property in Cases of Suspected Bird Flu

Not only does this abrogate the original intent of the Founders when writing the "interstate commerce clause" of the Constitution, it breaks the proscription against Congress delegating its powers (even if it had them to regulate commerce in this way) to any other body.

The NH Commissioner of Ed Tries to Defend Mandating that Towns Keep Kids in School Until They're 18

Lionel Tracey, Commissioner of Ed for NH, and former recipient of the "Moronic Quote of the Week", appeared on "Against the Grain" with Gardner Goldsmith. Here is his attempt to defend his belief that the state government should impose a requirement on towns that they keep teens in school until they are eighteen.

The bill, SB 268, was dealt a deadly blow last week, when it was recommended that it be put off this session for further study. Commissioner Tracey stated this was politically driven:

"This is not a vote that has anything to do with kids, and that's too bad," he said.

Hear Mr. Tracey, and find out why he received the "Moronic Quote" award on ""Against the Grain".

The Redistributionist Mindset in NH -- McCain in Keene pt 2 of 2

This is the second part of our coverage of McCain and Jeanne Diamond. The mindset she displays is pernicious, deadly to a free society.

A NH Resident Exposes Her Ignorance About Why Government Exists

When John McCain visited NH over the weekend of April 8 and 9, 2006, he was featured at a "Town Meeting" in Keene.

Hosted by Congressaman Charlie "Three Terms" Bass, the meeting was attended by people who had many questions for the Arizona Senator.

One of those people was Keene resident Jeanne Diamond. This is her story -- or part of it. It is the story of a peson who has no idea why government is created.

The Press Conference in Support of HB 1582 -- Fight the Federal REAL ID Act

The Conspiracy would like to acknowledge the efforts of Joel Winters and many others in their brilliant articulation of the matters of concern regarding the federal REAL ID act.

Thanks to their work, many news outlets were given an opportunity to learn about how the state of NH can choose not to conform to the REAL ID act, which would be an incredible financial burden on the state, would further harm the concept of federalism, would run contrary to the US Constitution, and would invade privacy of NH citizens.

At the press conference on Monday, April 10, in Concord, the Liberty Conspiracy was well represented by Number Two, who expressed many of the salient points of the issue.

More, on REAL ID, with Jim Harper, of the Cato Institute

Jim Harper, Director of Information Policy Studies at the Cato Institute, www.cato.org, made the effort to visit NH during the hearing in the NH Senate on HB 1582. He then appeared on "Against the Grain", on WTNK and WUVR, with Gardner Goldsmith.

Great thanks to Mr. Harper for his efforts.

Corruption in Action -- Senator Harry Reid's Mickey Mouse Train Idea

As mentioned in Business Week, NV Senator Harry Reid has not only proposed, but has thusfar secured 54 million Dollars for funding a high-speed Mag-Lev train to shuttle people between Las Vegas Nevada (STRANGE, IT'S IN HIS HOME STATE!), and Disney Land, in California.

The NH Smoking Ban, HB 1177, Is Defeated! Well Done, Defenders of Freedom!

With great thanks to all the Conspirators and their friends who took time out of their days to contact their representatives and senators in NH, we are happy to announce that HB 1177, the bill that would have forced restaurant and bar owners in the state to disallow smoking in their private establishments, lost by one vote.

It is a day to celebrate. Sort of. The popularly titled bill "Michelle's Law", has passed the Senate unanimously. This bill, now to become law, would force insurance companies to have to continue to cover catastrophically ill clients for up to a year after dropping college due to illness, even if their polcies stipulated that they had to be full-time students to get certain rates.

More, on France, and France-a-chusetts...

The Massachusetts legislature passed on April 4 a bill to force all businesses in the state to provide health insurance for their employees.

They will also soon pass a law to make French the official language.

Tres bien!
