What Song Would You Want to Have Played At Your Funeral?

I went to a funeral of a friend yesterday where they played this Levellers song & not this song which is on the same CD.

The previous funeral I attended they played Hendrix.

It gets me thinking what song would people want played at their funeral?

Looking for a Good Thomas Szasz Book

I'm looking for a good Thomas Szasz book if someone has one they'd like to suggest.  Psychiatry is a subject that interests me because I know so little about it.  It is rarely discussed, and while I hold some very basic moral views about it, I have absolutely nothing scientific or comphensive on the subject.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The Movie Thread

I thought it about time this forum had a thread where people can recommend movies they’ve recently seen or criticize films they’ve recently seen.

Study of How Bees See Reveals More Than Expected

Study by 8-year-olds published in prestigious science journal

I saw this amazing story on yahoo! news.  The story details how a group of eight year olds conducted a study on the behavior of bees related to how they see the world.

Kesshin

Since Gard is a big punk fan, I wanted to post this.

These guys are a punk band out of Paris that used to be friends of mine. But we've kind of grown apart over the years, sadly. But they make some great music.

Flag in Flames

I have a "band" of sorts (it is just me unless I play live then it is me and my friend Drew. The band is Flag in Flames and most of the time it is industrial music of some sort (sometimes more ambient, sometimes more dance) When there are lyrics they tend to be very anti state.

Today I made my first attempt at a punk song called TSA (about, you guessed it the TSA). It turned out fairly well, I did my best to channel Jello Biafra (his style of singing, not his political leanings!)

Check it out, all material is available free to download.

V versus The Event

It seems alien invasions are currently the fashion for blockbuster US TV series.

We already had the first season of V & now there’s The Event

I know people around these parts liked V but personally I prefer The Event as its a lot more ambiguous as to what the aliens intentions happen to be.

New pro-liberty fiction site starting soon: need some help

Hey guys. I haven't been around much, and I hope it doesn't look like I'm only coming to the LC because I need a favor. I actually listen to the podcast; I just don't often come to the forum.

Anyway, here's the deal: I'm about to launch a website with the purpose of promoting art with a pro-liberty bent to the liberty community. For the launch, I will be featuring some of my own writing as well as that of a couple other people. It will mostly be short stories and serial novels, but eventually I would like to publish full-length novels as well. My long-term goal is to prove that a free-distribution publishing model is better in the long run for creators, publishers, and consumers alike than the traditional copyright-restricted publishing model.

Freightliner 10 Times More Efficient Than Prius?

I got a message via twitter today which states that a Freightliner Diesel vehicle used to haul trailers is ten times as efficient as a Toyota Prius.  I actually believe it, but I'm not sure the source is credible.

Barbara Billingsley, who played June Cleaver on Leave It To Beaver, has died.

Here's her famous scene from "Airplane".

Kevin McCarthy

Just this year, I got "Body Snatchers" from Netflix.  I wanted to watch it for the umpteenth time.  This disk had a nice, but short, interview with McCarthy.   I was still holding out hope that he would be immortal like the college professor, Prof. Walter Jameson, he played in "The Twilight Zone".

Ian Dury's Spasticus Autisticus

I heard Gard play Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick in the last podcast but it isn’t my favourite Ian Dury song

1981 was the UN’s International Year of Disabled Persons & well Ian a disabled person himself wrote & released a record which is still banned from being played on BBC radio Spasticus Autisticus.

It was basically Ian giving the finger watch here & good on him for doing so

My new sci-fi/ horror/ genre review blog...

So, I've decided to use my website wordpress blog for reviewing genre books/ comics/ films etc that I enjoy alongside providing updates on my own writing.

To kick us off, I've got a review of the wonderful The Thief of Broken Toys by Tim Lebbon. Tim's agreed to do an interview some time soon. Until then, grab yourself a copy of this novella. It's a cracker!
