ABC News reporter in Denver -- Arrested for Being on Public Property While Investigating Lobbyists and Congress

Brian Ross' Investigative Team has been putting together good information for ABC News. This time, one of his reporters was ARRESTED by Denver Police -- OUTSIDE a lobbyist event at a posh Denver hotel.

Take a look at the article, and see the link to the video. Gard will discuss this on Monday's program.

Unions Tip-off Feds about Immigrants --

Gee, who coulda seen this coming?

Unions use the federal government to cut out lower-priced competition?

NO WAY!

Well Received: Aug. 22 Program on Property, "Rights", Laws, State Government, and Market Creations, Sheldon Richman's Piece

For those who would like more information on the subject Sheldon discussed with Gard on Friday, August 22, Please visit this link and read the excellent article Sheldon wrote for the Foundation for Economic Education. Superb thinking and historical analysis of why one does not need government/state creations to produce a system of interpersonal respect equal to rights. He shows how markets did this long before government got involved in codifying things.

FBI May Get Broader Powers to Investigate Americans WITHOUT Any Clear Suspicion, Plus, a Book for Conservatives

The Bush Administration won't stop until they have shredded the US Constitution's protections against unwarranted searches and seizures. The latest move is to propose much broader powers for the FBI to investigate Americans without warrants or probable cause. Sweeeeet!

Here is the article, from the NY Times:

And for those who are Conservatives, and think we here don't lub ye,take a look at this new book, "Why You're Wrong about the Right", from a guest of Gard's...

IMF Warns ANOTHER Big Ol' Bank to Fail, McCain's Hipocrasy on Abortion and Stem Cells, More TSA Horror, Great New Book!

Bank failure? WHAT? NO WAY!

Treasury Secretary Paulsen said that the "housing bust" is sector specific! And he's in gubment, how could he POSSIBLY BE WRONG?

http://business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/business/industry_sectors/banking_...

Okay, so John "The Constitutional Scholar" McCain was hangin' out with that cool dude Rick Warren, talking about how strongly he believes that "life begins at conception". Well, El G Grande has some information for you that might make you wonder about Mr. McCain's sincerity. Huh?! NEVER! NO!

Bush Administration Eases Federal Rules on State and Local Spying, Data to be Shared With Feds

Fans of Judas Priest might remember the great song "Electric Eye"... Devotees of Ziggy Marley might have asked, like Ziggy, "What is that all-seeing eye doing on our Dollar bill?"

Well there are more eyes watching you now than ever before, thanks to a new Justice Department "rules change", as the verbally challenged like to call it.

Suggested Reading - Reason, on ANWR

Jon Basil Utley has written a very good piece on why the feds should open ANWR. He doesn't go into the federalism of it, but that's pretty manifest anyway. Check it out!

Return of Fairness Doctrine Might See Regulation of Internet Content

Remember Gardner Goldsmith mentioning a recent FCC ruling that fined Comcast for cutting out certain items from a subscriber's website? The people at Comcast had found them objectionable, and took measures to protect their business. The FCC did not recognize the virtue of private contract, and intervened.

Well, the FCC Chair did not approve of that move, and in expressing his disapproval, he recently revealed that, as Gard has warned, the ruling could jeopardize all free speech on the net. Here is the article:

Hamdan's Sentence "Light", Except That He Can Be Held Indefinitely AFTER HE SERVES IT...

When will people begin to admit that United States citizens are living under the rule of a lawless government that makes the rules up as it goes along?

Check it out, and tune in or call on Friday to talk to Gardner Goldsmith about this incredible manipulation of the law, and President Bush's dereliction of duty to protect and defend the United States Constitution.

The Non-Declaration of War Continues to Cause Problems for US - Hamdan Case May End in Mistrial - Update

As Conspirators know, the only constitutional action for Congress to take if its members want the President to lead the troops as Commander-in-Chief, is to declare War. Without a declared War, the US government has been scrambling to find ways to hold and try members of al Queda and other so-called "enemy combatants". Now, the situation has reached a boiling point in the bogus "military tribunals" set up by Congress in 2006.

Homeland Security Gives US Border Agents Permission to Take Laptops, Copy Information, Hold Computers Indefinitely

In a poisonous attack on the Fourth Amendment, the Department of Homeland Security has given permission to the US Border Patrol to seize the laptops of people crossing the border into the US. They can take them to undisclosed locations, read any material on the computers, and COPY anything they desire -- without a warrant or just cause. This is unbelievable! Welcome to the USSA.

Here is the story. Please pass this along.

The UK Drug War: A Waste of Money, Time, and Lives

Big thanks to fellow Conspirator, Ziggy, of the UK, for contributing this piece from the BBC. Spread the word: Government prohibitions don't work to stop the behavior, and produce unintended consequences that are much worse than the behavior. They are unethical and paternalistic, and should be opposed in all measures.

Take a look at the British experience: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7531860.stm

The Hidden Burden of the Regulatory State: CEI's Wayne Crews Has Crunched the Numbers

Feds Take Over Two more Banks, with 28 Branches, to Hand Them over to Private Interests Later -- More Corruption in Gubment --

Get ready for another Bear-Stearns-like bailout. In this case, two more banks fail, the feds move in, "take over" and prepare to re-sell them to other private interests after the gubment pays off bad debt with YOUR money. Question: If these banks are good to sell, and good to buy, why get the government involved? The buys would just go through if the banks were good investments. The reason they aren't good sale prospects is shown to us, BECAUSE the gubment stepped in. Here is the piece:
