You read correctly! The Conspiracy is working hard to point out the long-term economic disaster that will be the gubment (ie taxpayer) bailout of mortgage houses and investment firms over leveraged off of the mortgage securities.

As a result, it was a nice surprise to discover that Harvard economist Jeffrey Miron has written a very good piece for CNN.com in which he spells out the key free market arguments against the bailout. We knew Miron was at Harvard, and it's a treat to read his good stuff!

Well, the “bailout bill” is done, and so is the free market, at least until US citizens recognize the actions of their policy makers for what they are: mixes of unconstitutional socialism, fascism, and mercantilism. Rousseau, Mussolini, and Henry Clay would be proud. Bastiat, Rand, and Mises would not.

Ahh, we're keeping up with events -- barely! Things are moving fast and funky in DC as, in the words of Zaphod Beeblebrox, "All the Captain-creeps move to their Borge-mobiles!"

Ben Bernanke is warning Americans that there will be dire consequences if Congress does not embark on the largest assault on private property and freedom in US history.

Gardner Goldsmith has made the decision that today on ATG, he will have to don the gauntlets and keep them on. There is no turning back now in exposing the sham that the Republican Party has become, and in expressing to people who still retain a shred of integrity that they CANNOT allow themselves to be seduced by the potential of "winning" the Presidential race, at the expense of principle, at the risk of insulting the memory of the men who gave their lives to write the US Constitution. It's possible that, on certain fronts such as taxes, John McCain could do some good.
