If they can do background checks, that means they can restrict the purchases if the BG checks are not conducted properly or they flag someone as "unmutual" (as they'd say in "The Prisoner"). Many years ago, libertarians tried to sound the alarm about HIPAA, the Orwellian "Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act", which imposed anti-constitutional regulations on private health insurance companies and doctors to MAKE them get patient permission before sharing patient health data. Hey, we freedom-lovers often speak in favor of privacy, but if a company does not offer to keep medical data private when one signs on, then they should be free to share it. If they promise to keep things private (which slows the data flow if one of their patients is in an accident) then they share it, the patient can go after them for fraud and breach of contract... In a voluntary system, people accept or deny these kinds of impositions or services based on their own preferences.

Check out this article. Not once do they mention that the MTBE additive was MANDATED by the federal government.

This boggles the mind... unless one realizes that the State of NH is bankrupt, and a jury filled with NH citizens will be likely to overlook the federal mandate in favor of their desire to get cash from the corporation.

Funny, we've only been trying to warn people about this kind of thing for years. When politicians force insurance companies to accept people with preexisting conditions, it destroys the definition of insurance (which is a hedge against future liability). If one already HAS a liability, what he is getting is no longer insurance, it is government-forced subsidy payment for health care.
