US Govt Mortgage "Salvation" Isn't That At All

How often we were told that the Obama Administration plan to "keep people in their homes" was going to save the housing industry...

The pop media repeated it, parrotted it. Now, what we have said here is being revealed. The system cannot work. Propping house prices up through artificial government means won't make those homes any more valuable. The prices of the homes MUST DROP, and the only way to do that is to allow the foreclosure system to work. THEY MUST BE LIQUIDATED.

Senate Passes New Financial Reg Bill

... And as that oh-so-honest and freedom-oriented guy Chris Dodd says (ya know, Chris one of 'em who said Fannie and Freddie weren't in any trouble), as Chris says, "no one will know how it works" until it's in place.

Classy.

It's rumored that as he and many others left the Senate chambers, Dodd turned to Barney Frank and said, "Smell that? I love the smell of fascism in the morning!"

New Home Sales Plunge to Lowest On Record

So, the tax breaks expired at the end of April, and May saw a 33% drop. So, what does that tell people who say that taxes aren't important, that taxes don't effect behavior, that taxes don't effect economic outcomes?

And what does it tell people about the state of the economy, this "economic recovery" that Ben Bernanke and TIMMY kept telling us about -- you know, the one that was "right on track"?

US "Cracking Down" on Child Agricultural Workers

Note that in the piece it mentions the blueberry crop that has had people flocking to pick for years... Note also how the piece fails to mention the fact that most children choose to work in the fields, and that, especially in the cases of migrant workers, their options back home are relatively WORSE, which is why they take the opportunity to work for farmers in the US. Some might say that the US farmers are "exploiting" the migrant workers, but that is a fallacy. In most cases, the profit margins for the farmers is very slim, because the PRODUCTS don't fetch beyond a certain level of remuneration from the consumer. The consumer is unwilling to pay beyond a certain level of price, and will choose another option once that threshold is reached.

Surprise! US Military reveals VAST Mineral Resources in Afghanistan

Spotted this last night, only get to flag it for you this morning.

One wonders what the politicians will concoct now as a rationale for keeping tax-funded soldiers fighting in this foreign land.

Certainly, we'll hear that the minerals have to be "managed" properly, and that they can't be allowed to "fall into the wrong hands".

Retail Sales Plummet Most in 8 Months

Gee, strange that the politicians (and hack rags like "Newsweek") had been telling us the 'economy was in a recovery'. ('Newsweek' used the term 'amazing'.)

And then, just yesterday, people like Bernanke and other DC gimboids were saying that there might be a need for MORE bogus stimulus activity! You think they were aware of the bad numbers that were about to be released, but wanted to look like they were prescient? Noooo! No way!

Do those jokers actually think all American citizens are so stupid they can't see through their rhetoric?

Here's the report. Gee, what a surprise! And, of course, the politicians will only make it worse in the long run if they add more counterfeit money to the system.

DC Politicians Consider MORE "Stimulus"

If you don't own gold or silver now, you had better get some. Then start looking for a new country in which to live. Things are going to go from bad to worse.

And as a substantive note. Did anyone see Ben Bernanke's comic performance in Congresss yesterday? After MONTHS of telling Americans the falsehood that "the recovery is right on track", he now has the gall to say that the "nations risks entering a sustained period of lagging economic indicators", and that the Congress might want to pump MORE bogus money into the economy.

Seeing him there had to make any person with even a remote understanding of free market economics laugh with a sad sort of humor... Here is the news from today, and the dummies at MSNBC.

Bogus "Recovery" Claims by Gubment Persist - As Gubment Does the Hiring

Check out this paragraph:

"The Labor Department's new employment snapshot released Friday suggested that outside of the burst of hiring of temporary census workers by the federal government many private employers are wary of bulking up their work forces."

NO! Really? You mean private business owners are hesitant to hire new people given the mountain of federal regulations (including the health insurance mandates) that will hit them? WOAH! What a shock!

Transportation Sec Proposes More Unconstitutional and Burdensome Rules

This never ends.

In the article, the Transportation Sec, LaHood, is quoted as saying, "passengers have rights". Sure, passengers have rights, and so do the airline business owners and operators. They ALL make exchanges with each other in the market that they intend to be beneficial to themselves. What LaHood really means is that the federal government will begin to tell one side what to do in that private exchange (which is already royally messed up by standing government regulations and the air route and security system the gubment has imposed) -- then the gubment will claim they are "helping".
