Jerome Corsi has written a very interesting piece at World Net Daily, in which he lays out the details of an under-reported federal proposal to build numerous "emergency" centers to house displaced families during natural disasters/terror attacks.

Clearly, these sites are unconstitutional, and, further, they have the potential to act like the internment camps for Japanese Americans in WWII, or the Nazi Concentration Camps. As we've often said, the idea that government should "protect" people leads to these kinds of outcomes. It is inevitable.

So, you were repulsed by Tom Daschle's hipocrasy when it comes to telling people they need to cough up more tax cash, while he evades the taxes himself. Right on.

But now the details of Tommy's "special dealing" are coming to the fore. Isn't it nice that a guy who works in such honest ways might be placed in a position to further break the US Constitution and come up with a "national health care plan"?

So, how many more highway deaths will result from higher CAFE standards when the auto manufacturers have to make more light-weight cars? And hwo much will the costs rise due to the federal mandates? And, how will this effect sales? Hmmm.. Seems that if the American public wants higher fuel efficiency cas, the manufaturers have an incentive to make and sell them. Funny, that, since that is precisely what has been happening in the past two years. To maximize efficiency, one doesn't need to turn to government.

As Conspirators know, many people who promote the free market greatly appreciate French economist Frederic Bastiat's insights, written during a very brief period in the Nineteentch Century. Bastiat was a true hero for freedom, and it appears that the Christian Science Monitor has russurected his thoughts for a "debate" between him and the tedious and misguided John Maynard Keynes. If you get a chance to listen to Elder's show, he does a pretty good job. He isn't completely on the anarcho-capitalist side, but he makes plenty of good points in favor of free markets.
