Lobbying Over Upcoming Wireless Spectrum Auction by Feds -- Washington to Make Billions off Airwaves It Should Not Own
As Conspirators know, the federal "ownership" of the broadcast spectrum is not only economically unwise, it is patently unconstitutional. Yet the political manipulation of the system continues. Case in point: the upcoming January 2008 auction of wireless spectrum spaces for telecom carriers to utilize. Google wants a piece of the action, and may spend billions in the auction, where it will be up against AT&T and Verizon Wireless. If Google loses, it is arranging what it sees as a backup plan -- to get Congress to force the winner to carry competitors' services... Huh?
Yes. You got it. The Googlers want the winner to BE FORCED to carry the Google service.
Federal Government Tells Marvel Comics and Franklin Mint - Only WE Can Mess With Our Coins for Commercial Purposes
While the federal government continues to decrease the value of the money we make -- to such an extent that now pennies and nickels are worth less in their coin form than if we melt them down for their constituent metals -- Marvel Comics had a great idea: change some US quarters prior to the release of "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer" to make them collectible!
Ixnay on that, says the gub-ment. Only WE can mess with money!
Here is the story...
Congress May Lift Ban on Local Taxation of the Internet and Wireless Devices
Dispensing with the Constitutional questions arising from a federal ban on state and local internet taxation (see cases such as the NY "Miln" case from the 19th century for an example of the byzantine nature of some commerce issues), the Conspiracy needs to draw your attention to the simple economic threat of possible state and local taxation on the internet and wireless devices. In NH, we are no longer immune to big spenders in our state capital. Note this article from CNET for more information, and then tell your US reps and senators what you think!!

OSCARS (tm) UPDATE! We're SAVED!
Al Gore has won a little metal statue from a bunch of self-righteous leftists.
Thought you'd want to know.
Had something to do with a bogus "hockey stick".
Mel Gibson's Recent Troubles and Those of Other Celebs -- Drunken Antics, Foul Language, and Double Standards
With the recent reports of Mel Gibson's behavior after being arrested for DUI in California, the double standards Americans have towards certain celebrities and political figures comes to the fore.
Bad behavoir is simply that, does it matter who engages in it?
Also, why is it that a Republican like Mitt Romney gets excoriated when he uses the term "tar baby" to describe the Big Dig (using the term as it was originally used, to describe a sticky situation), but Jesse Jackson can call New York City "HymieTown", and John Lennon gets away with urinating on nuns?
Read the Details about the Internet, thanks to Senator Ted Stevens - 'R', Alaska -
Thanks to Number Two, the Conspiracy would like to offer for your perusal the comments of Alaska Senator Ted Stevens, member of the Senate Commerce Committee (better known at the "Anti-commerce Committee"). As a member of the committee, Senator Stevens is charged (though not constitutionally) with regulating the nation to death.
This he does with aplomb and striking enthusiasm, despite his glaring lack of knowledge about the things he wants to regulate. Case in point, the internet. Ted and his pals in DC are looking into the interest of businesses to provide upgraded levels of internet service for added fees. Since Ted does not seem to believe that people can be free to use their money to get something better, because it might make others feel inadequate, he is against letting businesses offer things like faster service, video news, and music options for a bit more. Equality means the equal sharing of misery, not equal treatment under the law.

Robert Redford - From Male Pinup Heartthrob to Male Pinhead Policy Pusher
On Monday, June 12, Robert Redford appeared at the "Hinkley Hilton" in Washington DC, where the "Take Back America" Convention was beginning. Sponsored by the Campaign for America's Future, the Convention is a showpiece for the "progressive" left.
Mr. Redford appeared to promote awareness about man-made global warming, and to push for "alternatives" to oil.
His thinking is a bit muddled.

With a tip of the hat to Jack Horkheimer, who doesn't deserve to be associated with Ms. Stone.

Preston Tucker... a man who attempted to innovate, and was crushed by big government forces controlled by competitors with big money.

One of the best pro-liberty films ever made. Terry Giliiam's darkly comic take on 1984 is probably the best version of Orwell's idea ever put to film.
You will love this film.

"Take my love, take my land, take me where I cannot stand. But I don't care--I'm still free. You can't take the skies from me..."
Despite the network's attempts to kill this show thru bad scheduling, Firefly lives on.
A fun romp in the future, and liberty ideals abound.
