Lost Doctor Who Episodes and Unions

I am a Doctor Who fan but for me, Doctor Who started with Tom Baker.  I knew there were previous Doctors but I am not so avid a fan that I knew the history of the show.  I was recently reading that many of the episodes from the William Hartnell and Patrick Troughton years were "wiped" by the BBC.  Some were recovered but many are gone forever.  I just read today that some of the impetus for the "wipe" came from one of the British Unions.  It seems that they were worried that if the BBC had a large archive of material, they would be able to replay them and avoid making new shows.  The unions figured that would jeopardize jobs.  Incredible!

The Book of Eli

Saw it last week, only now getting to post about it. I really liked it. There was a moment when I wondered if it would pay off, but it really did. Congrats to the production team (including co-producer Denzell Washington) and writer. Awesome adventure with a moral attached to it.

And guess what? They actually place Hayek's "Road to Serfdom" in a shot. Look for it when you see Gary Oldman sitting at a desk reading a book on Mussolini!

Cool movie deserving of more than one viewing.

Be Seeing You!

The Omega Man

Just bought a copy of The Omega Man for me one of the classic 70s disutopian classic & for me personally its also a libertarian analogy.

For those who haven't seen 'The Omega Man' starring Charlton Heston you might of seen the remake 'I'm Legend' with Will Smith.

Though I think Will Smith put in a great performance I thought the remake was in fact rather dull & so as you might guess I prefer the original Omega Man.

Yes it's a little outdated & clunky but Heston always processed great on screen presence & I've long identified with the film.

Art Clokey Dies at age 89

What a bummer... at least he had a nice long life. His works should live on quite well, and I hope they do justice to the 80s episodes and release ALL of them as a box set.

Remake of Dune?

Whilst reviewing my direct messages on twitter I came across this article which states that there will be a third film made of Frank Herbert's epic DUNE.

Any of you know anything about this?

Here is the link to the story.

Fan preferred order of Prisoner Episodes

I am about 1/3 of the way through "The Prisoner".  Growing up, I was aware of the show but I never watched it, until now.  I was reading online somewhere about a "fan preferred" order to the episodes.  Does anyone know anything about this?  I won't say "Be seeing you" until I'm done with the whole show.

Invictus

Just saw Invictus the other night. Has anyone else seen it and what are your thoughts? I loved the rugby, but then again, the Springboks and the All Blacks are my two favorite teams.

Legend of the Seeker

This is a great series that's on it's second season. It is an adaptation of Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth series. It's definitely worth a view. Check out Cara the Mord Sith. She's looks damn good in leather doesn't she?

Twilight Zone, Gary North and the "intrinsic" value of gold

I've been reading Gary North's series of articles on Money on lewrockwell.com.  One of his recent articles mentioned the myth that gold has "intrinsic" value.  His point was that nothing has intrinsic value.  Value is subjective.  This brings me to an episode of "The Twilight Zone" called "The Rip Van Winkle Caper". Warning: For those who haven't seen the episode, don't read any further.

Fringe!

Recently Australia's commerical tv stations went to digital and we've picked up a few extra commerical channels that re-transmit stuff if you miss it.

Sat down and watched a thing called Fringe today!

Was totally fricking awesome! JJ Abrams production, with a mix of horror and sci-fi. I have to say this is one of the better shows in the genre I have seen for a while.

Blew me away how they were able to mix drama, suspense and all the sci-fi elements in there. Unlike anything I have ever seen on TV!

Am prolly gonna rant some more about this later. Soooo checking for dvds!

End of Rant

where the buffalo roam

I totally suck at writing, however I did manage to get an A in the summer school english class some how.  I don't know how, but I have been published before in "Low Rider" magazilne.  Well it was just a press release, and all I did was send them the schematics.  It is all just so much of a meager effort compared to Gard, or holy hell that dude who had a hand in the twilight zone empisodes!  That dude is freakin awesome!  Another writer I have an interest in is Hunter S. Thompson.  I really do not have too much of an oppinioin of his writing at this point, as I have not read much of his work.  However I loved the movies about him.  Here is a movie I do not believe too many have seen or known existed.

Where The Buffalo Roam -

Google Wave

A lot of people (when I say a lot, I mean between 20 and 50 people) in my twitter network have been asking for "Google Wave" invitations.  I didn't even know what google wave was.  So when I did a search (via goodsearch.com ) I came to a wikipedia article about it.

Aparently the whole notion of google wave came from watching Joss Whedon's television series "Firefly".  Google Wave developers use a whole parlance of Whedonisms, including references to my favorite, "Dollhouse".

Remake of "V"

Anyone here like the original "V" from the 80's.  I see that there is a remake coming out pretty soon.

Sanctuary

I was interested in what liberty conspiracists thought of the sci-fi channel show Santuary. I think it's pretty good. What do you all think?

BBC DOCUMENTRY ON AUTISM PLEASE WATCH

AUTISM AND ME

Its no secret that I suffer from Aspersers Syndrome a form of autism which is a form of autism & so no surprise I'd ask people too watch a documentary on autism. I'd especially ask people to click on the above link & watch because I've tried to educate people on how being autistic handicaps me with the day to day.

Friday the 13th: The Series

One of my favorite scifi shows of all time was Friday the 13th:  The Series.  It was on for 3 seasons in the late 80's.  The show was virtually apolitical but one episode struck me.  Two of the characters go back in time to stop a professor who also went back in time to get artifacts/items which he would sell in the present.  In order to use the time machine, he would have to kill someone.  Anyway, the two heroes go back to the War Between the States.  They end up telling one of the Southern characters that they are from the present and that nobody thinks the less of them for withdrawing from the Union.  Except for the Outlaw Josey Wales, I don't think I have ever seen a mainstream movie or TV show that isn't 100% pro-Lincoln/pro-Civil War.

Moving Picture Institute

Hey guys. I was wondering if any of you know where to get the Moving Picture Institute movies from? I'm interested in many of them but none of the screenings are near me. Thanks for any help. If you don't know who they are, they can be found at www.thempi.org
