One of my favorite scifi shows of all time was Friday the 13th:  The Series.  It was on for 3 seasons in the late 80's.  The show was virtually apolitical but one episode struck me.  Two of the characters go back in time to stop a professor who also went back in time to get artifacts/items which he would sell in the present.  In order to use the time machine, he would have to kill someone.  Anyway, the two heroes go back to the War Between the States.  They end up telling one of the Southern characters that they are from the present and that nobody thinks the less of them for withdrawing from the Union.  Except for the Outlaw Josey Wales, I don't think I have ever seen a mainstream movie or TV show that isn't 100% pro-Lincoln/pro-Civil War.

Relinquish liberty for the purposes of defense in an emergency?
Why? It would seem that in an emergency, of all times, one needs
his greatest strength. So if liberty is strength and slavery is weakness,
liberty is a necessity rather than a luxury, and we can ill afford
to be without it—least of all during an emergency.

Dude, when you compare something to "The Outlaw Josey Wales," you gain my interest.  I know that you haven't made that comparison, but you said you ejoyed the series.  I will see what I can do about rustling up this series for myself.

After I posted this, I remembered some additional dialogue that could be considered pro "Civil War".  The one character also told the Southerner that the country is stronger than before.  I still think it was remarkable considering that almost everything else I've seen perpetuated the same old story.  I could be wrong about my recollection.  The show was on around 1988.

That being said.  Nothing compares to "The Outlaw Josey Wales".  Incidentally, I just read that John Quade recently died.  He was in Josey Wales as well as "Every Which Way but Loose". He was the biker gang leader.  After he got out of acting, he got into the common law, patriot movement.
