Just in case you had friends living under rocks, or friends working for the gubment, which is causing the prices to surge. Inflation is not caused by gasoline availability. Inflation is an increase in the money supply, which, in turn, causes a general increase in the prices of EVERYTHING. Depending on how quickly the banking institutions and other pals of the gubment that first get the money (from the Fed or the Treasury) then loan or hand it out, one could see steeply rising prices due to inflation, or a longer curve of rising prices. The speed at which the excess monetary units pass into the wider economic system is called "velocity" in economic parlance. IN this period of massive inflation, the "velocity" has been slow, due to banks not handing out as many loans.

Okay, so we know that it is literally immpossible for the state to make 'economically efficiant' or 'productive' decisions with other peoples' money -- because, again by definition, productivity and efficiency and value are subjective terms, determined by INDIVIDUALS. When someone else makes those decisions for you, that immediately eliminates the possibility of measuring the valuation of the decision. Sooo, we turn to Solyndra, which not only received halg a billion Dollars in loan guarantees from politicians using your money and the savings of your offsping (through deficit spending and inflation of the currency), it also saw a restructuring of that loan so that repayment would favor political friends of the current administration.

Let's see. No Constitutional Declaration of War... No proper jurisprudential process for terror suspects. No Habeas Corpus Hearings. Continued CIA-sponsored torture. Fourth Amendment Broken in airports. Second Amendment regulated away for anyone flying (including those who work on planes). And now this.

One can never put a lot of faith in a bunch of government employees to rul on whether the GOVERNMENT is going too far, has overstepped its written bounds (which haven't been much like bounds, have they?)... But this challenge to the constitutionality of the individual mandate is at least entertaining.

The justices are only interested in whether is is Constitutional for Congress to force individual citizens to have to buy health insurance. Sadly, they never challenge the spurious notion that the Congress can FORCE insurance companies to cover certain people at rates that are untenable. They accept that nonsense and no pop media pundit will bother expanding the analysis to include it.

Just remember, don't ever question why US military forces might be fighting unconstitutionnally, and don't mention anything like blow-back, 'cause that might prevent you from doing all sorts of things in the "Land of the Free". ;)

This should have happened a long time ago. Home prices were artifically pumped up by government policies like the Community Reinvestment Act, the Clinton Justice Department's strong-arming of banks to hand out loans, low fed rates, and the existence of Fanny Mae to buy up the shaky mortgage securities. The entire price structure for houses needs to be re-aligned, seeing prices drop to move closely reflect their value (too many were built, thanks to those policies mentioned earlier). Only THEn will they be priced at a level that might see investors buy them and find some use for them.

In the Glaringly Obvious Department, the federal gubment has come out with their artifically low numbers on what they call "inflation", and guess what? Yeah, it's rising rapidly. In other words, the inflation of the money supply that has already happened and continues to happen is now seeing its bitter fruits: HIGHER PRICES. And note, the CPI and core "inflation" index have been changed TWICE to remove certain things like food and gas prices, thus keeping the numbers lower than they would be if real.

Of course, those "tax cuts" are really expansions of the EITC, the "Earned Income Tax Credit", which is the way they shovel money out to people who don't pay income taxes. It's a bit of a strange animal, since payroll taxes are the way the feds steal money for the bogus Social Security "Insurance" program, and you're supposed to be able to "get it back" when you get old and rusty. The trouble is that the EITC gives back MORE than what many recipients of the "credit" put into it, thus making it a redistribution of wealth scheme perpetrated through the tax code and tax "refunds" via the EITC.

Mr. Obama would like to increase the amount of redistribution, while INCREASING taxes on others to pay for it and for the other spending in his $300 Billion plan.
