General Talk

This is how the new jobs are created by the Big O--Read and Comment

  • General Talk

http://deseretnews.com/article/1,5143,705288093,00.html

Excerpt:

9 Orem lights, 900 new jobs?

How many workers does it take to install a light in Orem?

One hundred.

At least that was the number city officials submitted in a survey to Congress by the U.S. Conference of Mayors.

Rumor: Eminent Domain as Collateral for U.S. Debt.

  • General Talk

In a story posted on live leak, something I thought would only apply to FEDERAL lands shocked the hell out of me.  The concept of the federal government seizing private property to secure the debt of the government, to of all groups, the Chinese Government.  I guess I'll eventually, I'll learn that government can NEVER stoop too low.

Can I get that drop from Jack Palance, saying "This is really classy!" Gard?

10K subscribers, Congratulations!

  • General Talk

Congratulations Gardner on the milestone of 10,000 subscribers!

In honor of this milestone, I have submitted the latest podcast from the Liberty Conspiracy to a couple of news aggregate sites,

Here it is on digg.com: http://digg.com/arts_culture/Liberty_Conspiracy_Podcast_Celebrates_10K_S...

and on the upstart news aggregator libertypile.com

http://www.libertypile.com/items/Liberty_Conspiracy_Podcast_Celebrates_1...

It is my hope that you all will send shouts to your individual network on digg in celebration of this achievement, and pile on if you are so inclined.  This will bring even more people into the conspiracy.

Save Raptor Jobs

  • General Talk

Was checking out the Drudge Report and this was an ad at the very top of the page.  The claims that they are making here is absolutely absurd but I thought some of you would like to see this example of bad economic thinking.   Imagine if that 12 billion was part of the civilian economy and went to make capital or consumer goods.  How much worse off are we because they are developing this super expensive yet thoroughtly awesome fighter jet.

Same Scaremongering, Different Day

  • General Talk

My mother called me yesterday, all in a tizzy over the push by those evil socialists to get the stimulus package passed. She's lamenting the threats of impending doom if it's not passed now. I listen to the news, read the quotes like this in the paper:

"A failure to act, and act now, will turn crisis into a catastrophe and guarantee a longer recession, a less robust recovery, and a more uncertain future," Obama said in his prepared remarks.

The Other Dark Meat, (not FDA Approved)

  • General Talk

This literally had me salivating.  There are many good free market topics (sale of game meat unregulated, habitat, fur trade) in this article.  If I had written this piece, I would have mentioned that killing wild animals for food (book on poaching http://tinyurl.com/apn8bn ) is likely to increase during this economic catastrophe known as the Obama Administration.  I'm gonna see if I can get this at the local soul food place (http://utah.citysearch.com/profile/34694315/salt_lake_city_ut/mama_s_sou...)

Peanut butter recall

  • General Talk

I am just so perturbed over this peanut butter fiasco. FDA has been in the Georgia plant regularly and knew it was unclean. I don't know why we put responsibility for  product safety on a group without the gumption to remove that responsibility when they fail.

Transexualism, freedom & liberty

  • General Talk

Transsexualism & freedom; it might seem an offbeat subject which is personal to me but not particularly relevant to anybody else. In fact this would be a gross error of a conclusion because at the heart of the issue of transsexualism & freedom is the matter of what I’d term as property rights 1:01, one of the core beliefs of individual liberty & a relevant to us all.

Hello, I'm new.

  • General Talk

New to the forum, that is. I've been listening to the podcast since long before it was only a podcast.

A few of you may know me from the Free Talk Live BBS (I'm also Dan from Pennsylvania when I call in to FTL).
