As we stress, the move to mandate guaranteed issue is the key weapon the socialists need to drive the private insurance market into a price-increase spiral. That, in turn, will lead citizens to become more angry about insurance costs, and will bolster the cred of the leftists who currently claim that "without comprehensive reform private insurance costs will skyrocket in a few years." They will skyrocket because of government mandates for preexisting conditions, cost transfers from medicare and medicaid, and other regulations piled on the market.
