Boy, was I surprised today to find a donation solicitation from Joe Arpaio.  Arpaio is running to be re-elected as sheriff of Maricopa country (Phoenix), Arizona.  I live in Tennessee.

Sheriff Joe's letter chronicled his battles against illegal immigrants, Mexican drug cartels, and ultra-left Obama radicals who claim that the good sheriff is a Nazi.

Well, Sheriff Joe may not be a Nazi, but he is a fascist.  So now we have a would-be dictator of a local sheriff using illegal immigration as a national fund-raising issue.  GREAT!!

The Tea Party movement seems to be coalescing around this issue, and that is bad news.  Then you've got this rise in virulent Islamophobia.  Too many Americans are no longer capable of looking outside the prism of collectivism.  Muslims and illegal immigrants are no longer people; they have become 'the enemy.'  I worry that we are quickly going from living in interesting times to living in very dangerous times.
