I was at the cinema yesterday watching the new Underworld film which was okay but nothing worth writing. However I saw this trailer http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=R3orQKBxiEg & that trailer alone is something to write about.

For those who don’t know Watchmen is the greatest comic book/graphic novel ever written, ask anybody about comic books & they’ll tell you it’s a masterpiece & the comic book equivalent to Citizen Kane.

The reason for this is no small part due to Alan Moore who as far as I’m concerned is a fucking genius but unfortunately he’s disowned all previous film adaptations of his books, in the case of The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen he was most correct to do so, however V For Vendetta wasn’t as bad as I feared it might be.

I know one shouldn’t read too much into a two minute trailer but its got me salivating, its out first week of March. I can’t wait. I’m not sure it will live up to the source materiel but if the film looks as good as the trailer then it might go long way to being so, still I do recommend people read the novel because not only is it the greatest graphic novel ever written its one of the greatest books ever written.

Ya I can't wait to see this movie. After seeing the trailer a few times I decided I should probably check out the novel. I was completely amazed. I've never seen a hero story told that way. The ending was interesting. So now I can't wait to see the movie.

A group of us here is planning to distribute handbills regarding the origins and evils of the Federal Reserve to theatre goers when this film opens.  I know nothing about the film of the graphic novel.  I'll be buying my ticket for the first showing.

Before you see the movie I strongly suggest you read the book

Maybe Gardner could post an Amazon link as he did with The Prisoner

A co-worker of mine went out to see this at a midnight showing.  She didn't really say much about the film, except she noticed something.

One of the characters, when departing company from someone, said, "Be seeing you."

She had noticed that I say that a lot, and thought I'd be interested in it.

I told her that I thought it was probably a reference to The Prisoner.  I had to explain the premise of The Prisoner to her, and maybe she will watch that too.

I'm going to try and see The Watchmen over the weekend.

I saw it last Friday

I noticed the 'Be Seeing You' line as well

As for the film itself well its fairly faithful to the comic book but boy was my arse sore its not a short film

I loved it - pretty much scene-by-scene dramatisation of the comic book.

A few things were streamlined, such as the prison psychologist scenes etc., but most of the content was left in (prime example being Dr Manhattan's ever-swinging dongle).

I think fans of the comic book will be pleased with this. Zach Snyder did a fine job.
