Not surprising in the least when taking into account State expansion over the past few decades. However, this decision is still an indicator of the Fascist State that is Amerika today.

I can only hope decisions like this will open people's eyes to the fact that Lysander Spooner put so well:

"that it has either authorized such a government as we have had, or has been powerless to prevent it. In either case, it is unfit to exist."

...or, as I posted on my Tumblr blog:

"Wake Up and Smell the Fascism Amerika!"

The answer is voluntary exchange with the ultimate respect for inherent property rights originating via self-ownership.

When the tipping point comes...I hope enough individuals make the right choice.

Freedom's the answer.

After reading the opinion of Roberts, he seems to be telling the voting public that we have one last chance to walk this back in November. If we don't seek to put politicians in place that will dismantle this monstrosity, we are doomed to live through the consequences. Of course, this assumes the mechanisms built into the Constitution to handle such a situation still work. Sadly, I have come to believe they do not, the bureaucrats have made sure of it.

The whole thing feels just as wrong as when the law came to be in the first place. All the drama, the hard selling, the media speculation, and hate spewing pundits have worn us down (again). Like most other BIG government initiatives in the past 100 years, it's been one big long running show produced with our wealth with the obvious goal of consolodating control.

Glad I neded to catch up on my ironing - got the chance to hear the whole show last night. Matthew wandered through during the last hour to listen.

Started a whole discussion between us about exactly when the mandate makes the transition from tax to penalty. With the way politicians play with definitions, money supply and the regulations on insurers and care providers, that line is likely to be similar to that old quote about obscenity "hard to define, but I know it when I see it."

What are the chances the states will begin opting out as the January 1, 2013 deadline approaches? So many states have put off dealing with implementing the requirements until the SCOTUS ruling. Heard a woman from Maine (?) being interviewed on NPR yesterday saying there was no way they would be able to put together the exchanges by the end of the year.

I agree with Static Free about Roberts giving people the chance to vote the health care mandate out. I lack confidence in 'the people' though. Individual voters think through the issues, right up to the voting kiosk. Then, they're mostly a bunch of democrats and republicans. The individuals are few and far between.
