Thomas Szasz and Ray Bradbury both turned 90 this year.
Two people I have enormous respect for, albeit for different reasons, both turned 90 this year. Szasz, the great libertarian, is the author of many classics including "The Myth of Mental Illness", "Ceremonial Chemistry", and "The Manufacture of Madness" to name a few. If you haven't read him or are not familiar with his work, you're in for a real treat.
Anybody who has read Bradbury doesn't need an explanation.
Liberty lies in the hearts of men and women; when it dies there, no constitution, no law, no court can save it
Learned Hand
In the past men created witches: now they create mental patients.
Thomas Szasz
Relinquish liberty for the purposes of defense in an emergency?
Why? It would seem that in an emergency, of all times, one needs
his greatest strength. So if liberty is strength and slavery is weakness,
liberty is a necessity rather than a luxury, and we can ill afford
to be without it—least of all during an emergency.

Many returns to them both!
Ray Bradbury wrote a story called "The Fruit at the Bottom of the Bowl" that was great. When it was preformed on Ray Bradbury Presents by Michael Ironside, it was wonderful. Michael Ironside is a great actor and Bradbury is a great writer. Bringing them together was a great idea.

I vaguely remember seeing "The Fruit at the Bottom of the Bowl" on The Ray Bradbury Theater many moons ago. The series is available on Netflix.
