There are many, many things wrong with this story, not least of which is sending Steven Seagal on a police raid in a tank to take down a non-violent offender.  And even though I personally think running a cockfighting ring is abhorrent, I'm not sure I understand the sheriff department's logic here.  Does it really make sense to kill 115 chickens just to prevent someone from forcing two roosters to fight to the death?  On the whole, has this raid helped or harmed the avian community?  By my count they've now suffered 114 more deaths than they would have without the raid.

Hear, hear!

People think they need police to stop this animal abuse, but supposedly, the police and the laws reflect the morals of the society, so you don't need the state. Th stuff happens now, with the state here, and with the state not stopping it all, and with the state takin gour money regardless of whether they stop it or not and regardless of the damage they do in trying to stop it. If we had a stateless society, people would be able to exclude the bad people from their circles, and could pay for private policing agencies within their circles that would actually have to do the job that people wanted done!

They have a poll open, and surprising 86% people think that the tank was completely unnecessary.  Heres an interesting line from the article:

Thousands of dollars in damages were made to the property and 115 birds were euthanized on the spot.

They don't want them fighting, so they're just gonna kill the birds.

After they euthanized them they could have at least held a bbq for the homeless.  Maybe Steven Segall ate them all.

Euthanized on the spot? Did they actually have a veterinarian administer an intravenous drug? I don't think so. I think they stomped on them as so many jack-booted thugs have been known to do to poor, defenseless animals. Since when is property destroyed intentionally, before trial? Aren't we supposed to be innocent before proven guilty in the land of the fee and home of the slave?

What constitutes the suspicion of illegal cock-fighting? Many states have passed legislation where the mere possession of game fowl constitutes cock-fighting. The President of the Society for the Preservation of Poultry Antiquities  (SPPA, not to be confused with the money and power-hungry SPCA- the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, which in fact promotes animal cruelty. The SPCA are Nazis- they even operate death camps where the "liberated" animals are killed and incinerated) was raided as he owned game cocks and, thus, was presumed to be involved in cock-fighting. Another family had their horses seized after moving from Colorado to New Hampshire because their shelters (adequate for the -50 F and colder Colorado winters) were not up to "code"; the SPCA was behind this raid, too.

Game cocks are a nearly extinct breed and breeders should be applauded, not vilified for maintaining the gene pool. The public should not be deceived out of ignorance into blindly persecuting anything that remotely resembles animal fights. The fact is that chickens are violent cannibals and fighting is in their nature. I raise heirloom poultry and the only way I can prevent fighting is to separate the roosters and some problem hens. When I run out of room in the coops, they end up in the oven.

Animal abuse is abhorrent, whether conducted by the human owner or encouraged by the human owner between the animals themselves. As seen here, the answer is neither SWAT raids nor laws passed by ignoramuses without any regard to common sense. Animal abuse is universally scorned, except by blood-thirsty jack-booted SWAT teams (perpetuated by their culture of killing) and the occasional sicko. For both, no amount of legislation will be effective in preventing animal abuse (public opinion has turned against cock-fighting long before legislation) and government is ineffective in protecting us from these predators.
