I tried to tell that to my bank:

'The only way that I can pay off my credit card is if you give me a huge overdraft.'

So I did, and ended up with a maxed-out credit card AND a maxed-out overdraft! lol

Seriously, though, my way out of debt involved spending less and saving more. Surely it's the same principle for governments?

Richard Murphy.  This guy is a piece of work (or a piece of something, at any rate).  It's interesting that you posted this link.  Another friend of mine here in Texas has been debating this same guy over his recent post about libertarians.  Sort of puts the "Are Small Government Libertarians Statists?" discussion in perspective, doesn't it?
