I was flipping through the channels yesterday when I came across a NY City channel that was giving each of the Mayoral candidates a few minutes of airtime. The Libertarian candidate made his presentation and at the end said "Be seeing you", complete with the hand gesture.

Relinquish liberty for the purposes of defense in an emergency?
Why? It would seem that in an emergency, of all times, one needs
his greatest strength. So if liberty is strength and slavery is weakness,
liberty is a necessity rather than a luxury, and we can ill afford
to be without it—least of all during an emergency.

This was not the show I was referring to.  It was a local NYC channel that gave each candidate 5 minutes of air time.

Okay, well I tried.  Sorry to have referenced the wrong show.  Do I get credit for trying?

This is very cool. I always imagined that if I were ever invited on a show, I'd use that to say goodbye, thereby freaking out the host. I also imagined how neat it would be to run for office and use that everywhere I appeared. But, of course, as an anarchist, it is difficult to square my opposition to the state with the need to run for office in order to tear down the state. That brings up the eternal question of whether one can destroy the state by entering the arena and fighting on those terms, or one should try to carry out "personal secession", as Ian Freeman puts it -- simply not conforming to the laws, as often as one can.

I see benefits to both, and I can also see that an anarchist could possibly run for office if he explained before hand what his intentions were, and if he did not take any salary, or found some way to defray the costs to the public without running afoul of ethics for appearing to be "bought"...

Buuuuuuut! This is sooo cool. It's something I'd dreamed I'd start seeing when I started saying "be seeing you" on the air. it seems that others out there not even connected to us (or perhaps he HAS heard of the Conspiracy?) are tuned in to the same zeitgeist!

Hasta!
