Media and Government Reaction to Joe Stack
I find the Establishment's reaction to Joe Stack's attack on the Austin IRS building predictable yet fascinating. In USA Today, a congressman from the Homeland Security committee was quoted as saying that they were looking into ways to secure federal buildings from air attacks. The main thrust of the article was about the threat of small planes. Just like after 9/11, the Establishment completely ignores the motives that drove the attackers to do what they did. As Gard has repeatedly pointed out, bin Laden posted his recruitment brochure (his fatwa) on-line, but very few care to read it or to contemplate its importance. Just the ravings of a lunatic. Same thing with Stack's manifesto. Just a madman ranting.
The Stack attack is being portrayed as an isolated incident, meanwhile I saw a story today on Freedom's Phoenix about another guy burning down his home so the bank wouldn't get it. Remember the Kill Dozer back in 2004. Or the Kirkwood, MO city council shootings in 2008. There is a seeting undercurrent of anger in this country. I feel that further economic deterioration will bring it to the surface. As Gerald Celente (who, incidently, is forecasting mass civil unrest) says, when people lose everything and don't have anything left to lose, they lose it.
No one that I talk to feels any sympathy towards the IRS, and they understand how in the right situation someone could snap. The only ones who don't seem to understand this are people in government and the big media who continue to analyze the symptoms and not the disease.
The great non sequitur committed by defenders of the State, including classical Aristotelian and Thomist philosophers, is to leap from the necessity of society to the necessity of the State.--Murray N. Rothbard

Thing is Glen that is what the public generally want because generally people still think government is important therefore needs to be protected

Of course that is very true but considering the vast majority of people aren’t by appearance libertarian & so because the libertarian/patriot/anti state/ view is viewed as very much a minority view & therefore kooky & therefore dismissed.
I’d add that Joe stack was an asshole in what he did, not only was it morally wrong but he’s not done libertarians any favours.
Anyways here are my conclusions http://www.thelibertyhub.com/index.php?section=19&page=42
