James Babb's Prescient Observation
I was just listening to the pod with James Babb from WeWontFly.com and was struck by his observation that the government's solution to the problem it created with the porno-scanners would be worse than ever, i.e. biometric I.D., background checks, etc. Here it is already. Ah yes, gotta love that Hegelian Dialectic!!
Concerning Rep. Mica encouraging airports to ditch the TSA, the media once again reveals its statist bias. While the media has largely glossed over Chertoff's connections to Rapiscan, Mica's connections to private companies that provide airport security comprises a major part of this article.
The great non sequitur committed by defenders of the State, including classical Aristotelian and Thomist philosophers, is to leap from the necessity of society to the necessity of the State.--Murray N. Rothbard
Excellent observations, X! The false choices they give us will never stop until people stop giving them power to do the security (or power to do ANYTHING for that matter!)
And it figures that the pop media would concentrate on Mica's ties, but not Chertoff's. The pop media people have been hit or miss. Some have been great, while others have been reluctantly dragged into covering the rising protest against the TSA.
G!
This whole private security company thing is a cop out anyway. It doesn't matter. These aren't free market alternatives as they have to meet government standards. Meaning, likely they will have to use the same tactics that the TSA is curently using. What will happen when people find out they have no alternatives?
