What is everyone's opinion on how they see things unfolding in the U.S. over the next few years?  Are we going to have a slow, gradual decline where most of us accept a lower standard of living?  Will there be an economic catastrophe?  If so, will it lead to a complete loss of liberty or a rebirth of liberty?  Will secession of one or more states happen? I'm assuming, of course, that everybody who reads this think that DC cannot be reformed.

Relinquish liberty for the purposes of defense in an emergency?
Why? It would seem that in an emergency, of all times, one needs
his greatest strength. So if liberty is strength and slavery is weakness,
liberty is a necessity rather than a luxury, and we can ill afford
to be without it—least of all during an emergency.

This is a good question.  I think that there will be a marked decline in the standard of living, which people will accept, because if they dare do otherwise, they will be imprisoned.

@Gard/Jackie could one of you put this up as a poll here on the LC frontpage?
