A while back I tried explaining geolibertarianism to the FTL boys, Mark kind of got it but Ian definitely didn’t get it. It was a thought of my mate Ed Joyce that though geolibertarianism is a concept born in the US, because its more applicable here in Britain due to the specific history of this country.

But it appears that the Free State Project have heard of geolibertarianism, but whether the likes of Ian Freeman & others would welcome geolibertarians is another question.

Which FTL episode did you have the discussion, Zig?

That's a good article on the FSP website. However, I'm not a fan of the term 'tax' when describing geolib principles. I can see, of course, why someone may insist on using the term, however I see it as unnecessarily divisive. One of Dan Sullivan's essays does a fine job of contextualising the root form of 'tax' being that which is 'taxing' ie. a strain on a person. I would still prefer the word 'rent' being as how the geolib land dweller would be essentially renting from Mother Nature.

Somebody has in fact made a video clip of that particular discussion

I'll admit because i knew Iean might be reactionary towards the concept I had to juxtaposition & pretend I wasn't a geolibertarian.

I also didn't really get to explain the whole thing properly but that's always the case phoning into talk shows.

funny enough I remember that I made that call in the first hour of the show & there was at least three calls in the following two hours of the show saying they support the concept.

I enjoyed the comedy they extracted from the conversation on one level. FTL is always great for that. On another level, there was absolutely no chance given to discuss the concept by Ian. Mark seemed more willing to engage, mind...

Ah well.

I wonder if you had been given the chance to evolve the conversation to geoanarchism would it have gone down differently?

Well I'm not an anarchist but you are so pick up the phone & find out

I did suggest to Dan he should phone in but I reckon he'd get the same response as me.

I had a conversation with mark Edge the other week & he admitted he doesn't get geolibertarianism though I think thought there was at least more justification for land tax then income tax
