The Icelandic government put their people first by underwriting personal cash and then let their banks fail. They seem to be all the stronger for it today. They realised very quickly that you cannot solve liquidity problems by printing or applying for bigger loans in UK. Everyone knows what the inevitable outcome is but the self interested politicians and bankers are obsessed with short term fixes. LetÂ’s just get it over with and move on. The politicians got us into this mess, and they sure aint going to be the ones to get us out of it. They overspent, failed to regulate the banks, and embraced socialism, which means spend more then you earn. When you vote next time labour, tory, or liberal, next time remember your stupidity they welcome.

So what exactly does the colapse of a major modern economy look like? With their ability to print money, is it possible a "colapse" has essentially already happened?  After buying inflated gas, groceries, and oil for my car this week, I have to at least consider that it has already started.  Instead of a spectacular collapse of the US and UK economies, I submit we will continue this long slow decline where the essentials of life stay on a continuous climb. acquire the tangibles as a hedge and someday you may be glad you have them around for bartering.  Look for anything of value that is NOT tied to fiat paper and do your best to be self-sufficient.
