Hey guys,

As some of you may have heard on the podcast of Free Talk Live, DROP DEAD GORGEOUS (my apocalyptic zombie horror novel) is available to buy...

It isn't *strictly* a libertarian-themed novel. However, the recurring themes of power struggle and human nature in the face of disaster do pop up! Come on - where better to consider a voluntary society in action than during an apocalypse! LOL

Anyway, you can click on my signature to be brought to my website, where you can read more details. I'd love to hear what you guys think of the book - it's available throughout the US at BORDERS/ WALDENBOOKS or from the any major online retailer (Amazon, Barnes and Nobles etc.)

Thanks for checking it out.

Well, one can view the Zombies as the collectivists.  My 5 year old daughter was asked to draw a portrait of a U.S. President, and she chose President Obama.  The resulting portrait was Obama as Zombie.  I'll try and find it, and link it over here.

Wayne!

I had to put out the praise for ye, my man. As I mentioned to Wayne, everone, I actually bought his book at Borders without knowing hs listened to the pods or was a libertarian! I just thought the book looked cool and interesting!

You'll LOVE it, all! Fine, scary stuff with a descriptive angle that appeals to punk-rockers and iconoclasts, but also pulls in the heart of individuality. NIIICE!

Obama as a zombie? Haha! I'd love to see that picture!

They say children 'see things' with more precision than the rest of us, don't they?

Gard, thanks for the support and praise! High praise from a fellow writer such as you.

Hey, did I mention that I'm reading LIVE FREE OR DIE... It's like my bible of libertarian philosophy. Plus, it's cool to read all the nerdy stuff - like your experience of writing for VOYAGER. Cool stuff :)

London-based popular culture magazine, LIBERATION FREQUENCY, have posted an interview with Dave Moody (author of HATER).

They posted a short but very sweet review of DDG at the end of Dave's interview, alongside a review of Max Brooks' WORLD WAR Z:

Drop Dead Gorgeous
Wayne Simmons

Reads more like a gritty drama than a zombie book until that is the author reveals his masterful hand and tears your still beating heart from your chest. Do not miss! 4/5

Check out both Dave's interview, and the DDG review at:

Hey Gard:

I'm not much of a horror fan [more of a Mel Brooks Young Frankenstein screwy humor type]

But I found the interview very interesting and entertaining. Mr Simmons was really cool.

Keep the interesting interviews coming.

As a footnote, I like the fact that your working on a short story based at Carnarvon Gorge. I've been there! It's an awesome place. Could have filmed a star trek episode there for sure.

Keep conspiring hehe.

cheers,

mothyspace

For those of you that want to join in, Wayne and Myself will be hosting a conference call on 15 August 2009, at 11:00pm Greenwich Mean Time, where we will be discussing "Drop Dead Gorgeous."

There are two places to rsvp on the web, but I'd prefer it if you did it at the event listed at the fr33agents.ning site http://tr.im/r2TN

If you aren't over there, you can rsvp through freedombookclub.com's facebook fan page event here:  http://tr.im/r2Vm

"Here is the blurb I wrote for the event:

Discuss themes of individualism, liberty, and of course zombies as we talk about "Drop Dead Gorgeous," Wayne's zombie thriller set in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Wayne is reaching out to horror fans and tattoo afficiandos with the message of freedom, and many of them will be in on the call.

This is an international event, so the time listed is Greenwich Mean Time.

For international callers, make sure to dial the country code for the United States then 605.475.7875. The access code for the conference call is 994869#

The conference call will be recorded, and distributed as a podcast through our itunes subscription list which you can sign up for here: http://tinyurl.com/ow9b2g . The podcast will also be syndicated through the Liberty Conspiracy website and audio feed, and possibly broadcast over the Liberty Radio Network.

Space is limited to 94 people plus Wayne and myself."

Alternative clothing company, LIP SERVICE, have posted a wonderfully bright 'fashion freak' feature on DDG at:

http://www.lip-service.com/webzine/?p=1522

Here's a snippet:

'If your thing is politely worded tomes about fragile heroines, Drop Dead Gorgeous is probably a bit harsh for your delicate sensibilities. BUT, if you're into action-laced horror filled with choice vulgarity, vivid gore, and full-tilt, ass-kicking chicks out to, not just survive, but live with a vengeance sporting a cranked up attitude, Drop Dead Gorgeous is your kind of read.'

It's interesting that you mention getting monstered up. In my childhood, I watched a lot of Hammer films and I think a bit of that old-school horror bleeds (excuse the pun) into my writing today.

Glad you enjoyed the reading :)

Another interview with my rather sickly self (I have FLU, believe it or not) has appeared in cyberspace - this one courtesy of Gerard Brennan over at CSNI.

Whoah! Heads up, fellow conspirators...

My apocalyptic horror novel, DROP DEAD GORGEOUS, gets a re-release!

THE BLURB!

As tattoo artist Star begins to ink her first client on a spring Sunday morning, something goes horribly wrong with the world...Belfast's hungover lapse into a deeper sleep than normal, their sudden deaths causing an unholy mess of crashing cars, smoldering televisions and falling aircraft.
In the chaotic aftermath a group of post-apocalyptic survivors search for purpose in a devastated city. Ageing DJ Sean Magee and shifty-eyed Barry Rogan find drunken solace in a hotel bar. Ex-IRA operative Mairead Burns and RIR soldier Roy Beggs form an uneasy alliance to rebuild community life. Elsewhere, a mysterious Preacher Man lures shivering survivors out of the shadows with a promise of redemption.

Choked by the smell of death, Ireland's remaining few begin the journey toward a new life, fear and desperation giving rise to new tensions and dark old habits.

But a new threat creeps slowly out of life's wreckage...

'Drop Dead Gorgeous is a stand out book.' --Horrorbound.com

'A heck of a good novel...' --Fatally-Yours.com

'A gritty drama... Do not miss!' --Liberation Frequency

'If you're into action-laced horror, vivid gore and a cranked up attitude, Drop Dead Gorgeous is your kind of read.' --Lip Service

'Worthy of George Romero's finest moments...'
--Total Tattoo Magazine

DDG will be available throughout all good book stores (in the UK and Ireland) or you can pick it up right now from:
