Disorderly Conduct for hip-hop fast food order
Just read this story about how 4 Utah Teenagers rapped their order at a McDonald's in American Fork, Utah, and were cited for disorderly conduct.
This really blows my mind. Trespassing maybe, but disorderly conduct? Hardly. The effectively sang their order to the drive through attendant, and had criminal charges filed agains them. This is stupid, and is a telltale sign of the police state we live in.
Check out the story here on MS-NBC: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/33541983/ns/us_news-weird_news/?gt1=43001
I don't think theres enough information here. How long were these guys trying to order and in what manner?
First, did they insult or harrass the order-taker/manager (article doesn't seem to distinguish if its different)? From what I read in the article, it doesn't seem like they did. But this leaves open the question why was it reported?
The manager said they were holding up the line, and the teen said that there was no one behind them; just spectulating I'd assume that the manager was having a bad day or something and didn't want to deal with it. Now if someone was waiting its a different case. This wouldn't be hard to check since you could just look at receipt times.
I'd also guess that the 4 teens were probably white or hispanic. I don't know any major news outlet that doesn't work racial prejustice into an article if they have an opportunity.
Which is a more serious offense, tresspassing or disorderly conduct? From what I understand about law, if someone is on your property and you tell them to leave and they don't, thats trespassing, not disorderly conduct.
