In response to Barack Obama receiving the Nobel Peace Prize US Conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh slammed Obama as a pacifist. Now few years back it was revealed that Rush was addicted to tranquilisers & one has to wonder whether Rush is still popping pills because only somebody stoned out of their head would be describing Obama as a pacifist.

Pacifist Obama isn't & the Nobel Prize committee have made a mockery of their own award as well as world peace period. I don't think a pacifist or a man of peace would be escalating war as Obama is in Afghanistan. Okay some say that when Obama was nominated for the Nobel Prize he hadn't at that point ordered an escalation in Afghanistan & this is in fact true but neither had Obama really done anything significant towards world peace. In regards to Obama & the escalation to the war in Afghanistan though he didn't order it on immediately entering the White House, however we knew he would & how do we know he was going to order an escalation to the war in Afghanistan? Because during the presidential campaign he said that would be the policy of his administration if was elected.

Obama was elected & he's certainly escalated the war in Afghanistan & his latest actions being to order the deployment of another 13,000 troops & Gordon Brown has also pledged to deploy more British troops to Afghanistan. This now smacking of the rhetoric that many had in the US about winning Vietnam & we all know what happened & we all know what a mistake Vietnam was. But it appears that many in the US have forgotten the mistake of Vietnam in that no matter how many troops where deployed & no matter how much the US bombed North Vietnam, it did no good because eventually the US military were forced to withdraw as the US military were fighting an unwinnable war. Like Vietnam its pretty obvious that Afghanistan is an unwinnable war & it appears some other history nobody involved in occupying Afghanistan has learnt from. In the past the Afghans have seen off the Soviet Union & the British Empire, yes the Afghans have seen off two of the most powerful colonial empires this planet has seen & so what's the betting they'll see off NATO.

As it goes some of the tactics NATO have adopted hasn't helped the cause of the western agenda, for instance NATO troops have gone about destroying poppy crops of farmers whose livelihood depends upon the poppy harvest & when NATO goes about destroying the poppy harvest those farmers rely upon they then go & join the Taliban. If western governments such as the UK & US want to defeat the Taliban then here's a radical idea allow doctors to proscribe heroin to addicts & so firstly it allows those farmers in Afghanistan to earn a legitimate living & secondly heroin addicts won't be thieving to feed their habit.

But as far as I'm concerned no NATO troops or US/UK troops should be in Afghanistan because they're essentially propping up a pretty despicable regime. When Gordon Brown announced the deployment of more troops on Wednesday he made certain stipulations which the Afghan government must fulfil but none of those stipulations concerned a commitment to protecting human rights & the Afghan regime has proven beyond doubt they've no interest in human rights.

What does my head in & utterly disgusts me is how people can still support the occupation of Afghanistan & the propping up of the Afghanistan government when there's state sanctioned rape going on in Afghanistan. Before the recent elections in Afghanistan Hamid Karzai the Afghan president signed into law that a husband could starve his wife if she didn't allow her husband to fuck her rotten. Yeah Hamid Karzai definitely no supporter of female equality & he certainly doesn't get democracy because he was caught out ordering the stuffing ballot boxes. But here in the west I just don't understand how anybody can just so apathetic when there taxes are being used to enforce state sanctioned rape!!! Of course some might say we shouldn't judge Afghanistan by western standards. Firstly wasn't the idea behind the occupation of Afghanistan to turn it into something resembling a westernised liberal democracy & secondly don't be so patronising & racist, no matter what culture somebody might have been born into it doesn't mean they can't get enlightened toi the ideas of liberty & equality.

Obama has definitely proven that he's not a man of peace & both Obama & Gordon Brown have proven they've very little integrity by not putting any pressure upon the Afghan regime to smarten up & lets not forget its that regime our taxes support. If we would not accept state sanctioned rape here in the west why should we accept supporting it elsewhere?
