I first want to say that I cannot believe it took me this long to check out the conspiracy! Awesome stuff, wish I would have came here months ago.

Here is my story:

When I was in elementary school, I went through the normal DARE (Drug and Alcohol Resistance Education i believe) and one day, the normal DARE officer was not there to lecture us about the terrible effects of the evil weed and such. A friend of mine, who's father was a police officer with the same department, informed me that the reason the DARE officer was not in class today was because there was a standoff going on outside town with an armed man. "Wow! COOL!", though the little 12 year old joshuathesmart, "The cops are out doing cool cop stuff!"

I got home and it turned out that the gentleman in the standoff, being completely surrounded by the police on his property, chose to end his own life.

That is all that I remembered of this story from 1999, until the year 2007.

I was out getting signatures to get Ron Paul on the PA Republican Primary Ballot (whole 'nother story!) around my hometown with a middle-aged man when we drove by the property that this all went down on 8 years prior. Then I heard the whole story. I need to find some old newspapers at the library in town or something to get more "facts" but here is what he told me.

The man who owned the property had a small go-kart track or something of the like in the woods, and also a small pile of scrap metal and other "junk" which he allowed people to dump their. The go-kart track deteriorated, and the junk pile grew. It was an eye-sore, and the neighbors did what they though was right; call in the local law enforcement.

The gentleman was informed multiple times by law enforcement that he needed to remove the junk from his property, and if he wanted a junk yard on his property, he needed to apply for the proper permits and get permission at a township meeting, which would involve consent of his neighbors.

And each time, this gentleman informed the police and his neighbors that he owned the property and had the right to do whatever he wanted to do. Finally, police came in with some sort of warrant and found the man sitting on his tractor holding his shot gun. A stand off ensued, and the man shot himself.

And that, folks, was my first memorable encounter with law enforcement! My classes DARE officer taking part in a raid on a poor gentleman's property which resulted in a suicide. No wonder the teacher or substitute officer did not tell us what had happened. I may have learned too much in school if that had happened.

And they said drugs were the problem.

Anyway, that is a lot longer than I intended, but I hope that it was interesting. I am thinking about calling into Free Talk Live with that sometime when I get a chance to listen live.
